As you therefore have received Christ Jesus the Lord, continue to live your lives in him, rooted and built up in him and established in the faith, just as you were taught, abounding in thanksgiving.

Colossians 2:6-7

Through its programs in Christian formation, the Church of St. John on the Mountain seeks to enable members of our parish to grow more deeply into the love of God and of our neighbors; to develop and deepen our faith so that we may share the good news of the gospel; and to come to greater self-understanding as persons created in the image of God. Our programs aspire to involve parishioners’ hearts, souls, and minds in the learning process; to nurture our understanding of ourselves as a local expression of the Body of Christ in the worldwide Anglican Communion; and to examine critical issues for their relevance to our lives as Christians in a multi-faith world.

Adult Christian Formation for 2006-2007: The Anglican Experience -  Our Adult Christian Formation Committee chaired by Janette Carlucci has put together a wonderful program year in which we will learn and experience more about our Anglican heritage, spirituality, practices, and world-wide extent. Our programs will include weekly informal presentations and discussions on Sundays from 9:00-9:45 AM in the Meeting Room, weekly bible study (Tuesdays at Noon; brown-bag lunch, led by the Rector, and first Sundays of the month led by the Rev. Jane T. Brady, 9-9:45 AM), special speakers after our 10 AM service (11:15AM-12Noon (generally on the third Sunday of the month), quiet days in Advent and Lent, and a Tuesday-evening Lenten series highlighting our rich tradition of Church music.

Our general pattern for our Sunday 9—9:45 AM sessions:

  • 1st Sundays:  9:00-9:45 Bible study on the lectionary readings for the day led by the Rev. Jane T. Brady
