Mountaintop Moments, February 25
Following the 10:00 service, our Mountaintop Moments group will have its first gathering of the new year and welcome a guest storyteller.
Tracey Heisler is executive director of CASA of Somerset, Hunterdon, and Warren Counties (CASA SHaW), a nonprofit which provides volunteer advocates in court for children living in the foster care system because of abuse or neglect. Tracey came to this work nearly 20 years ago as a volunteer and has made it her life's mission. Her mother grew up in foster care, and Tracey saw first hand the struggles she had as a result. She works to give other children in the same situation the voice that her mother never had.

By now, you should have received your stewardship letter and pledge card in the mail. Please return your 2018 Pledge Card, as the Vestry needs them to make their budget decisions for the upcoming year. Extra Pledge Cards can be found in the narthex or call the office 908-766-2282 to have one sent to you. If you have any questions about Stewardship, please contact Bob Courtemanche.
Coffee Hour Schedule
Click here for the 2017-2018 Coffee Hour Host Schedule. Copies of the schedule are also available in the narthex and kitchen. In an effort to involve all families, Coffee Hour will be assigned to each family one time between the months of September 2017 and June 2018. If you can’t make the Sunday that you’re assigned, we kindly ask that you swap with another family. Preparations are minimal and implementation is easy. We all love Coffee Hour and this is a vital part of Fellowship. By having everyone involved, we can all be a positive force for St. Johns! If you have any questions, please contact the coordinator, Paul Zanardi.
Altar Flower Request Sign up Available
St. John on the Mountain continues the tradition of having fresh flowers on the altars. The arrangements enhance the sanctuary and are shared afterwards with the sick or divided to use again the following week in the chapel. Donations of flowers are made as memorials or in thanksgiving for special occasions. A date can be shared by more than one donor. The 2018 flower sign-up charts are posted on the bulletin board in the hallway of the church building, opposite the entrance to the Chapel sacristy. For dedications and specific floral requests contact Sue Kennedy at email@example.com or the office. The cost is $100 for church altar flowers and $70 for chapel altar flowers.
Please consider joining this important ministry. Greeting people, distributing bulletins, conveying the sacred elements to the altar, and inviting parishioners to partake of Communion are central to our worship services. No experience needed. To sign-up or for more information contact firstname.lastname@example.org or call 907-766-2282.
2018 Dates for Holy Baptism
We baptize primarily on those dates set aside for baptism, as listed in the Book of Common Prayer. Since the presence of the community of faith is essential for welcoming the newly baptized into the church, baptisms take place in the principal service on the appointed Sunday. The next dates for Baptism are:
Questions about baptism? Please contact Mo. Susan at email@example.com.
Don't forget that you can donate your Stocks to SJOTM. The tax advantages of giving stock, instead of cash, to church can make doing so very worthwhile. We would be happy to accept stock donations for 2016 as form of pledge payment. To learn more, please contact Lisa Keenan in the office at 908-766-2282 ext 13.
