Dear friends in Christ,
We write to share the news that Olga "Binx" Lee, longtime parishioner of St. John on the Mountain, died just before Christmas. We give thanks to God for Binx's life and the kindness, friendship, and commitment she embodied through her volunteer support for the arts, the parish, and the broader community. We were blessed by her presence among us.
Her family is organizing a funeral for Binx on Thursday, May 28, at 1:30 pm in the Chapel of St. John on the Mountain followed by a reception in the Parish Hall. We hope the parish will come out to celebrate Binx's life and give thanks for sharing life with her.
Binx's obituary was published this week and can be found here in this attachment.
For local parishioners and friends, we are also holding a memorial service this coming Wednesday, Feb. 4, at 3:00 pm in the Chapel followed by refreshments and sharing of stories about Binx - a fitting tribute for a wonderful storyteller. We hope that people will be able to attend both opportunities to remember Binx and commend her to our loving God.
Notes of condolence can be dropped in the parish office or mailed to the church and will be forwarded to her family. Donations can be made in Binx's memory to the Women's Association for Morristown Medical Center.
O God, who by the glorious resurrection of your Son Jesus Christ destroyed death, and brought life and immortality to light: Grant that your servant Binx, being raised with Christ, may know the strength of his presence, and rejoice in his eternal glory; who with you and the Holy Spirit lives and reigns, one God, for ever and ever. Amen. (BCP p. 493)
Almighty God, by your Holy Spirit you have made us one with your saints in heaven and on earth: Grant that in our earthly pilgrimage we may always be supported by this fellowship of love and prayer, and know ourselves to be surrounded by their witness to your power and mercy. We ask this for the sake of Jesus Christ, in whom all our intercessions are acceptable through the Spirit, and who lives and reigns for ever and ever. Amen. (BCP p. 395).
In peace and hope,
Pastor Beth
