MEMORIAL GARDEN

“Blessed are those who mourn for they shall be comforted.”

-Matthew 5:4

Since ancient times, Christians have respected and tended to the mortal remains of those who have died, while at the same time affirming our faith in the promise of the Resurrection. Our Memorial Garden provides a place of solitude in a natural setting that is especially comforting to those who mourn and remember loved ones.

This sacred place was created at St John on the Mountain in 1973 for the interment of the ashes of our parishioners and their families. The cremated remains are interred into the soil of the Garden. The wooded setting behind the Church provides a peaceful place for committal services, reflection, and prayer.
