CHRISTIAN EDUCATION

We warmly welcome children of all ages to join us at St. John on the Mountain on Sunday mornings! Our goal is for children to feel comfortable at church and for them to want to come back each week.

Nursery on Sunday

Professional nursery care is available from 8:45am - 10am on the lower level. The children are well cared for by our professional staff of loving babysitters.

Sunday School

All Sunday school children (Pre-K – 6th Grades) meet in Parish Hall at 9am where they hear a Bible story and work on a craft or game that relates to the story. Students join their families in the church for the Eucharist. Click here for the 2023-24 Sunday School Registration Form.

Confirmation Class

Preparation is a one-year class for 7th and 8th graders. In this class we wrestle with the difficult questions of faith and gain a deeper understanding of our own identities as baptized Christians. Students are encouraged to participate in our church services as acolytes, readers, ushers, and they can even help out with our Sunday School program as assistant teachers.

Our next Confirmation Class begins on September 15, 2024 and will meet two Sundays per month from 10:00-10:45 AM. Please contact Lynn Mitchell for more information and to register.

Chidren's Activities

Children enjoy a variety of activities throughout the year at SJOTM. During advent children make advent wreaths and Christmas crafts.  Our children are the stars of our annual Christmas pageant.  Another favorite activity for children is the annual Easter Egg Hunt.  In the spring children plant seeds, which are later transferred to the Giving Garden at Ross Farm.  Each summer kids learn, create, and have fun at Vacation Bible School.

Youth Activities

Our youth are the hosts of our annual “Souper Bowl” and Shrove Tuesday pancake supper fundraisers.  They also volunteer at the Somerset County Food Pantry.  All 6th - 12th graders are invited to participate in Youth Group meetings once a month on Sunday evenings.  Kids enjoy activities such as dinner together, s’mores making, rock wall climbing, games, and mission work. Friends are always welcome.
