WHY I LOVE SJOTM

2023 for St. John.jpg

The birth of a tiny, 1 pound 13-ounce miracle baby brought me to St. John. From the moment my grandson “Baby Nathaniel” was born, this church community surrounded his family with love, meals and prayers. Throughout the long 10 months of hospitalization and even now, four years after his precipitous arrival, the ministry of the St. John community to our family has never wavered. The prayers continue even to this day and I have no doubt they are a very important part of his continued progress. Nathaniel showed me the way to St. John, the church home for which I had been searching and I will always be grateful to the congregation for the warmth and welcome it has shown me.

"Our family loves St. John on the Mountain (SJOTM) for so many reasons, but the primary ones are fellowship and outreach. The community that exists within the church is welcoming to all, supportive and wonderfully dedicated to servicing our communities through outreach programs. From the first day our family stepped into the church, we were greeted by friendly parishioners who took an interest in our family and in our faith. From that day forward these relationships have grown and developed into something that we treasure and for which we are grateful. Additionally, serving our community is something that is important to us. SJOTM has not only allowed but encouraged us to participate in unique opportunities which have enabled us to teach our children the importance of serving those in need and have them engage in hands-on activities where they are able to see how their efforts help support others."

We were initially attracted to St. John on the Mountain because of their Nursery Care and Sunday School programs. As parents, we wanted to join a church that welcomed our family and encouraged our kids to flourish. We certainly made the right decision!

Our boys have progressed through Sunday School and into Confirmation Classes, with

our oldest being confirmed last year. In addition to the excellent Sunday School, the associated activities have helped to instill important Christian values. Over the years, they have participated in crafts, fundraisers with other kids, service at the local Food Pantry and string bean plantings at the Giving Garden at Ross Farms. These family experiences continue to be a wonderful part of the fabric that makes St. John on the Mountain so special to our family.
